Mortgage problems?

I own a home in Florida and we got hit by Hurricane Wilma in 2005. I was not able to pay my mortgage for 1 month. I was able to get a payment plan with the Hurricane Disaster Department. I paid that month that I was behind this year. My problem is that the added late charges to my account when they should not since I was under that the Disaster program. They also purchased home insurance in my behalf (which I decline and provided proof of home insurance thant I purchased on my own). My mortgage insurance and collections department is taking too long to update my account and is still telling me that I need to pay the late fee(after telling by mail that they were going to take it off my account) and the insurance (that I declined and bought some where else) now untill they update my account and then they will refund me later. What can I do? They are making me pay for something that I dont need to and they are talking about forclosure. HELP!!

  1. I don't know the other side's story but if we take your side as the fact I would recommend an attorney to help you Free legal aid search for all states: http://www.lawhelp.org/ In my opinion pursuant to my opening statement I would think that if they filed foreclosure proceedings against you your attorney could counter with a motion to reinstate and make claims to all those expenses you mentioned were unnecessary and including any attorney fees. Working with the government can sure be stressful, since its not their money that they are working with.
